Music

Hello, so Im back again today with another post. I thought this time I would write about music.

Im a big fan of music, I would even go so far as saying that it's one of my passions in life. Growing up with parents who arent into the Top 40 means that as Ive grown older Ive moved away from liking pop music (I was never a big fan but I always listened to it at school to fit in a bit more).

When I was a teenager I listened to rock music and this still holds a place in my heart however my favourite (and has been for a long time) is music from the 60's and 70's. Especially Motown, Soul and the Mod scene.

I love seeing musicians live and have been lucky this year to see Martha Reeves, The Temptations and The Four Tops among others. The Saturday just gone I went to a Motown concert and the main man was a previous member of The Drifters.

Along with music comes a complete lifestyle and culture and this is something that I'm embracing as well. Ive always loved the sixties style but have never been brave enough to wear it. However, as I've got older I've shrugged off the insecurities and am slowly adding more vintage pieces to my wardrobe.

What sort of music are you into? Do you like seeing live musicians?

Travels

I thought I would write this post to note down all of the wonderful holidays I've been on, more of a way for me to remember the great times than of a way for me to boast.

As a little girl we always visited Spain and Majorca, I dont really remember much of these holidays but photos show I had a penchant for donkey rides and straw hats!

We then bought ourselves a caravan and Cornwall became our destination of choice. I love Cornwall, I think its one of the most beautiful counties in the country and I can always see myself setting up a little shop on the beach front and making the most of what sun we do get. Caravan holidays also took us to Devon, Dorset and a bit closer to home - Norfolk. Although stunning I just feel that they don't have the draw of Cornwall.

While I was in year 11 at school there was an organised trip to The Big Apple. That city is amazing and I would love to take my parents here one day. We went in February and it snowed! The most picturesque thing. It was an all inclusive price and we got to do all the sites, The UN, Empire State Building and the Statue Of Liberty. I really would recommend anyone visit this place if they could.

Moving on through the years and the girlie holidays came around. Last year my best friend and I hit up Kavos. Expecting wild parties every night, it only lasted a few days as my friend ended up in hospital - not with alcohol poisoning but with leptospirosis (Google it)! When we got out we just took it slow and it was still a brilliant time away.

Finally, this year. My mum and I went to Venice in June and I can honestly say there and NYC are my favourite places so far. Its so quaint and beautiful and the water, cobbles and buildings made for an amazing atmosphere.

So there we have it. My holiday history. Writing this has made me realise how much I love to travel and I definitely need to book in some more trips soon.

Let me know about your trips in the comments, Id love to read them.

Hello

Hello and welcome to my little corner of the Internet.

I've started this blog to try and motivate me into making the most of life and hopefully I'll be able to motivate any followers I pick up on the way.

My name is Hollie and I'm 23 (soon to be 24!). I live in a sleepy Fenland village and share a home with my mum, dad and Daisy the dog.

I'm not really sure what to write now as I'm hopeless at bigging myself up but my posts along the way should help me show you what my life is and what I enjoy doing.

So, expect music, lifestyle, food and girlie things. I hope you enjoy it.
